About the Art

I am an untied cartoonist (comics artist) and animator, who dabbles in all kinds of media (and even performing arts), and I'm currently tuning my senses into media studies at Swinburne University.

I have concerns with our society, and the negative social attitudes that haunt our world in the forms of person to person treatment, and nation-wide cultural issues. I prefer an honest and direct approach.

I admire the mind of children, and I'm a believer in the 'every individual is deep down a child' theory. I realize that media these days is a driving force in education for all ages.

I have been actively drawing comics since the age of 15, and have found primary inspiration in Jim Davis' work, and John W. Dunn's story concepts, since childhood.

I proudly live in Melbourne, Australia.

If you wish to, you can contact me via email. I usually don't bite, and will be happy to receive some attention.

What the heck is "Hmm..."?!

Hmm... is a style of drawing and character design, that I have developed over the years, by subconsciously borrowing from all major daily comic strip author's styles - while learning the craft - during the prime age of daily comics (the '90s), to eventually create an original form that feels pleasant and familiar.

The Hmm... style's characteristic features are the marker-thick lines, clean, yet organic feel drawings, open line endings, and simple shading in the colouring process. Character designs feature a big round nose, puffy cheeks, and egg shaped, joint eyes. The characters are almost always facing the audience, inviting the reader to read their thoughts and feelings.

Why "Hmm..."?

The name actually reflects on the sensitive nature of daily comics and cartoons, and was initiated by the arduous effort I've put into trying to define the quirky style I've grown to like over the years. It implies thinking, humour, a simplistic attitude, and a naive nature. It also calls to the core of human nature, and in an age of confusion on the Internet, I've felt it was the perfect name for this art form.
